Statement
I love nature, sunlight, the shadows of trees.
I used nature to learn how to paint, I discovered nature by painting.
My pictorial research on nature began thirty years ago, in the woods of the Tuscan hills.
Since then I have created countless studies en plein air, which I rework and synthesize in my studio.
I am searching for a quick painting style, in one go and without hesitation, which can convey all the sensations that nature offers me.
My goal is to paint pictures that, once hung, are able to irradiate the entire room with light, like a window wide open to nature. And I would like them to return the heat of summer, the frost of winter, the warm wind of spring.
I love walking a path and reproducing it in my paintings. The path transforms into an invitation for the viewer to enter the painting. I often think of the path as a life journey, with goals in the distance and experiences left behind.
I am in love with grass, ditches and marshes.
I am obsessed with narrow "passages" between the bushes of a forest or the reeds of a swamp. I pass through them safely and happily, always imagining I am entering another dimension.
My paintings are not simply landscapes. They are compositions that tell stories, moods or situations transfigured in nature. They are prayers, hymns to joy, praises to life.
My artworks are notes of the magic that I experience every time I go out to paint, tools to remember it, pretexts to experience it again.
